Webmonkey is Calling it Quits
May 4th, 2004
Not sure what is going to happend to all of the articles though.
Of recent, I’ve been basing a lot of my class subjects on some of these great tutorials. Guess I’ll have to find an alternative. (Wired: Webmonkey, RIP 1996-2004)
This is a sad moment though. I can’t say that I have used the articles of recent (a quick browse will show that most are from before the bubble burst). It was an important part of my early development. I remember getting free Web space setup on Angelfire and Tripod, then heading over to the authoritative (and hip) world of Webmonkey.
According to Wired.com, Webmonkey’s parent company Terra Lycos is implementing some major cut-backs. Is this a forecast of things to come for Wired?
Google Does Flash?!
May 1st, 2004
Google is now indexing .swf files (flash). This is a big step forward for flash documents.
Thanks to the Search Engine Roundtable for the article, Google Now Indexing Flash SWFs. I had quit developing in Flash exactly for these reasons. What’ll they think of next!
